Sarah passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE.
Sarah Ann (Hoefs) Nielsen was born on January 8, 1942 on the family farm near Beemer, NE to August and Edna (Renner) Hoefs. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Sarah attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Wisner High School in 1960. Sarah married Lavern Hunke and to this union a son-Craig was born.
Sarah worked at the Sandman Motel and in the bakery department of the IGA Store.
Sarah and Don Nielsen were married on June 6, 1990.
Sarah was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, NE. Sarah enjoyed playing pitch, watching sports-especially the Kansas City Chiefs, playing softball, golfing, and bowling. In 1971, she had the high scratch series at the Nebraska State Women's Bowling Tournament. Sarah's loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, where she enjoyed attending their activities.

Sisters-in-law-Janelle Hoefs of Seward, NE
Kathy Schoch of Beemer, NE
Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Sarah was preceded in death by her parents-August and Edna Hoefs, husband-Don Nielsen, siblings-Virgil and Dolores Hoefs, Tom Hoefs, David Hoefs, Danny and Dolores Hoefs, and Marilyn and Don Schlueter, and sister-in-law-Dorothea Hoefs.
