In Loving Memory of Galen Lee Propst

G. Lee Propst, born on November 5, 1936, to Verna and Floyd Propst in Maquoketa, Iowa, departed this earthly life on December 23, 2023, in Boise, Idaho.

Lee's journey began in the heartland of Iowa, where he developed a love for family, faith, and service. After graduating from high school, he answered the call to serve his country and joined the Navy, reflecting his deep sense of duty and patriotism.

On April 7, 1957, Lee married the love of his life, Mary Louise Dean. Together, they built a life centered around love, faith, and a commitment to one another. Lee and Mary were blessed with five children: Deanna, Denise, Lisa, Amy, and Andrew, who became the pillars of his world.

Lee was a man of many passions. He found solace and joy in the great outdoors through fishing and hunting, and he displayed a skillful touch on the golf course. A devoted sports enthusiast, Lee's heart belonged to the LA Dodgers and Boise State Football.

However, beyond his personal interests, Lee's life was marked by a profound dedication to others. He was a friend to everyone he met, always ready with a warm smile and a helping hand. Lee possessed a remarkable ability to fix anything, a skill that endeared him to many and made him a go-to person for those in need.

Above all, Lee's true passion lay in serving others. He loved his precious family unconditionally, and his devotion extended to his country and his faith in Jesus Christ, whom he considered his Savior. He served for 7 years as a Bishop and 9 years as a Stake President for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he also served as a Temple Worker in Portland, OR and Boise, ID. He loved every person he served and in every calling he served in. Lee lived a life guided by love, compassion, and a selfless desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those around him.

He is survived by his wife Mary, sister Joan (Harvey) Peterson, sister-in-Law Leara (Charles) Leasure, brother-in-Law Tom (Carol) Dean, his children Deanna(Rick) Shurtleff, Lisa, Amy (Jon) Strickling, and Andrew (Shonda) Propst, his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lee was proceeded in death by his parents, his daughter Denise Curtis and granddaughter Loren Curtis

His legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and the countless lives he touched along his journey. G. Lee Propst will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his spirit will live on in the memories of the lives he enriched.

A graveside service will be held for Lee on Dec. 30 2023 at Dry Creek Cemetery at 11AM. A Celebration of Lee's Life will follow at 1PM at the LDS Church located at 8620 W. Goddard Rd., Boise, ID 83704.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
