Tom was born on February 11, 1939, in Houston, Texas, to parents R.D. Ansley and Bobbie Anita Martin Ansley. Tom graduated high school from Spring Branch 1957 and continued his education at University of North Texas in Denton, earning a bachelor's and master's degree. He worked for Humble Oil for four years before beginning his career in education. Tom was an industrial technology teacher for many years. He moved to East Texas in 1975 and taught at Leverett's Chapel and West Rusk until his retirement in 2002. Tom was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Kilgore, serving as an elder and deacon. He was a very accomplished woodworker, he loved to wood carve. Tom was a member of East Texas Wood Carvers and the National Wood Cavers Associations.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 42 years Juanita Burge Ansley and sister Alice Cathryn Wills.
