Doris Francis Dale Lafferty Wood, 93 years, 9 months, 24 days old, passed peacefully on January 25, 2024 at Ozark Nursing and Care in Ozark, Missouri with her family by her side.
Doris was born April 1, 1930 in the Dogwood community in Douglas County, Missouri to Walter and Stella (Lakey) Fitzgerald.
Doris was raised in the Dogwood community with all her siblings.
On November 23, 1947 Doris and Robert Amon Lafferty were united in marriage at Dogwood, MO and together were blessed with six children.
Doris lost her husband, Robert in 1968. She carried on and worked hard raising her children. She was a wonderful homemaker and mother.
When she lived in Ava, Doris worked at Rawlings Sporting Goods and Spaldings. She was a Christian and for many years a member of the Dogwood Nazarene Church. Doris loved to sew, embroider, and made beautiful quilts for her family. She was adored and loved by her family. Doris's fun loving spirit will live on as her legacy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her children, Kay Huffaker, Garry and Terry Lafferty; her siblings, Merman, Herman and Emra Fitzgerald, Vonice Rose, Bonnie Williams, Zora Fitzgerald, Nola Gifford and Genevieve Wallace; a great grandson; a step son; and son in law, Ed Hatfield.
Doris is survived by her children, Susie Clark, Rick Lafferty and Sheila Hatfield, Cheryl Peterson, Sonya Nolan, and Larry Wood; many wonderful grand, great, and great great grandchildren; her sisters, Stella Fitzgerald and Irma Lupton; many nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
