Biographical notes from an oral history in Henry Mauldin's notes on Lake County history in the Lake County Historical Society, Lake County Courthouse Museum in Lakeport, page 1097.

Frank Hanson lived at the extreme west end of Long Valley and had a sawmill here. He had Chinamen making shakes from sugar pines and their headquarters were at Home Camp. It was known as China Camp. They cut all the good shake trees off around this area. Frank Hanson may have been the one responsible for the building of the Howe Camp to Long Valley road. He had his Indian wife and family at that time. He moved from Long Valley to a location about one-half mile S.E. of the Y and almond orchard at Sweet Hollow summit in a small flat where there are now some locust trees. Frank, his white wife and one of his half breed daughters are buried in a private cemetery, near the point of the y, on the Lower Lake road and on the side of a hill.
