The lady in the photo is Ed's wife Miriam Ada Brinkley Short..
They came to Texas with their dairy herd and set up a dairy in Wilson County, Texas....when the Govt. made the laws to modernize the dairy business etc...they could not afford the machinery and other equipment and had to go out of business...much like the present day interference of our Govt. in our lives all done in the "name of good"....

Former Arthur Resident Dies
Arthur, June 30 - Arthur Short is in receipt of a telegram announcing the death of his brother, Ed Short, at Floresville, Tex., on June 21. Mr. Short went to Texas in 1895 because of lung trouble, and the change in climate did prolong his life many years. Mr. short was 58 years old and leaves a wife and seven children, all grown; also two brothers and one sister, as follows: Arthur Short, Arthur; Bert Short, Windsor, Ont; Mrs. Emma Myers, Decatur (The Decatur Herald, Decatur, Ill, July 1, 1928
