He married Florence 'Renie' Lewis on May 29, 1948, in Abingdon. They had one son. She preceded him in death on March 14, 1986.
He had lived in Abingdon since 1946.
He worked at the former Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon for 43 years retiring in 1989.
He was a volunteer at the Care Center of Abingdon and delivered Meals on Wheels to Abingdon area residents.
∼Abingdon, IL - Verlon A. Riney, 73, of 503 S. East St. died at 11:15 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2001, at his residence.

He also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are one son, Larry (and Julie) of Geneseo; one granddaughter; and two brothers, Doyle of Abingdon and James of London Mills.

He was a member of Abingdon Christian Church, where he served as a deacon.
He was a volunteer at Care Center of Abingdon and delivered Meals on Wheels to Abingdon-area residents.
Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery.
