Josephine "Jo" Martha Greenlee, age 80, of Joplin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at the Communities of Wildwood in Joplin.
Jo, daughter of the late Charles and Vay (Renner) Johnson, was born on June 19, 1943, in Granby. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Donald L. Greenlee, on May 14, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma. Their devoted partnership lasted until Donald's passing on November 19, 1997. Together, they welcomed their only son, Little Donnie Greenlee, whose upbringing and accomplishments filled Jo with immense pride and joy.
Her career began at Sears, where she quickly became known for her exceptional customer service and leadership skills. After taking a leave to focus on raising her son, Jo returned to the workforce joining the team at JC Penney. She was known for her strong work ethic and earned the respect of her colleagues until her retirement. Retirement for Jo was not about slowing down but she redirected her time and energy towards her beloved granddaughters, who were the light of her life. Jo will be remembered for her unwavering love and dedication to her family as a wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.
Survivors include her son, Donald "Donnie" L. Greenlee II, and his wife, Syeda, of Joplin; one sister, Maxine Peters, and her husband, Larry, of Granby; two beloved granddaughters, Zeina Greenlee and Harper Greenlee, of Joplin; and numerous adored nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, great-great-great nieces and great-great-great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Jo was preceded in death by two siblings, sister, Agnis Johnson, and brother, Floyd Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024, beginning at 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Parker Mortuary in Joplin. Following visitation, cremation rites will be accorded with private family committal at Osborne Memorial Cemetery in Joplin.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
