KANNAPOLIS - Theodore "Ted" Walter Conrad, 100, of Kannapolis, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007, at the home of a granddaughter with his family by his side after a brief period of declining health. Services will be held Tuesday, at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 4, 2007, at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel in Kannapolis, with the Rev. Don Davis of Shadybrook Baptist Church and Hospice Chaplain Karen Kaser Odor officiating. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 11:30 until 12:30 p.m. at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mr. Conrad was born May 16, 1907, "at 12 o'clock noon CST" in Clark County, Iowa, to the late James Peter Conard and the late Viola Mae Cornelison Conard. Mr. Conrad retired from Salvation Army, Chicago, after 23 years. He moved to this area in 1982 and was a member of Shadybrook Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Dalton of Kannapolis; three granddaughters, Karen Lynne Golie and husband, Rick, Kristel Leigh Swayze and husband, Ken, and Karolyn Leslie Rogers and husband; six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Ryann, Mary, Hannah, Nathan and Dalton; four nieces and their husbands; and two nephews and their wives. He was preceded in death by five brothers, one sister, one nephew and one niece. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shadybrook Baptist Church, 1009 Oakwood Ave., Kannapolis, NC 28081 and to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Boy Scout Camp Road, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or the Salvation Army P.O.
