Elsie was born in Macomb, Oklahoma on February 11, 1933 to Janie and Philo Hendershot. A child of the Great Depression, she grew up in Oklahoma, then carried her hardworking attitude and humility to Nebraska after marrying Arvenne on August 5, 1951.

Elsie packed her life full of love, kindness and caring for others, especially her three children Rose Haefele (Vern), Dennis Jameson Senior (Christine), and Larry Jameson (Katie). Eventually many grandchildren and great-grandchildren joined the family, with memories including Easter egg hunts, family vacations, gardening, hunting and fishing. She is survived by her brother Chester Hendershot (Sydnalea) of Woodward, Oklahoma. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents Janie and Philo Hendershot, brothers Charles, Gail and Paul Hendershot and sister, Edith Jameson.

Elsie came to know her Saviour at a young age and her faith continued to be vital in all that she did throughout her life. Elsie worked hard on the family farm. She continued with the strong work ethic that she had learned as a child. She assisted with farm chores including raising chickens, milking cows, raising pigs, feeding hogs and cattle, gardening, canning, baking (especially fresh bread which she baked twice weekly), cooking, sewing and knitting. She instilled a love of music, gardening and reading in her children. If she found a rare
moment to relax, she tended flowers and often enjoyed reading a good book. She creatively encouraged her children to enjoy the arts, music and literature by teaching them to read at an early age, drawing, taking piano lessons and singing in choir.

With a twinkle in her eye and a cheery smile, she exuded compassion and patience. Elsie taught youth in her church and went on mission trips. She also instructed 4-H girls for years. Elsie sang with the church and community choir. She was a member of the Amherst Evangelical United Brethren Church, later renamed the United Methodist Church. Elsie was a member of the Spirit of Life Church. Later in life, she joined the Grace Fellowship Church. She was a member of the HOP club and Farm Bureau.
Elsie participated in local school board activities. She always supported her children in their various scholastic, musical and sports activities. After Elsie's children were raised, she worked in several bakery departments in Kearney, exhibiting her culinary skills.

Elsie loved her family, friends and church family. She was proud of how the family business met needs in the community. Elsie's faith in God was always her greatest treasure. She frequently gave her time, energy and finances to those in need.

Most importantly, Elsie would prefer those who remember her know she was but a flawed human who loved and was rescued by her Saviour, Jesus Christ.
