Jo Ann (Billie Jo) Griffin, 82, of Fort Smith, Arkansas was called home by her Heavenly Father on January 16, 2024.
Mrs. Griffin was born March 2, 1941 in Coweta, Oklahoma to Bertram and Thelma Groves Bowd.

She was a member of the West Ark Church of Christ where she was involved in several outreach programs and was a member of the West Ark quilters. She also enjoyed reading, shopping (The Now and Then Shoppe ) flower gardening ,spending time with her family, traveling and watching OU football with the love of her life, Mathew Griffin.

Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents Bertram and Thelma Bowd, four half sisters Betty Brewer, Mildred Step, Bernice Groves, Mary Ostendorf and older sister Maxine Lampley.

She leaves behind her loving husband of 59 ½ years, Mathew M Griffin II of the home, son Mathew M. Griffin III and his wife Leslie of Muldrow, Oklahoma, daughter Melinda M. Venable and her husband Gerald of Rogers, Arkansas, sister Lois Burns and husband Steve of Frisco, Texas, sister Karen Bowd of Porter, Oklahoma, brother David Bowd and his wife Debby of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, four grandchildren Kalen Griffin, Andrea Boggs, Zach Venable and Coby Venable as well as three great grandchildren, Avery Boggs, Atticus Boggs and Kasen Venable as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jo Ann's funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at West Ark Church of Christ in Fort Smith with Chris Benjamin officiating. Interment will be at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. The family will receive friends and other family members beginning at 10:00 am at West Ark Church of Christ prior to the service.
