The body of Mr. Wilson, of Sarasota was brought here Saturday for burial. It was accompanied by his son, Harry Wilson, also of Sarasota. He was laid to rest in New Hope cemetery, Rev. Norris, of LaCrosse, conducting the last sad rites.

Confederate Service: The roster of The 22nd Georgia Infantry lists him as a private, enlisting at Augusta, Georgia on February 27, 1862, wounded at Sharpsburg on September 17, 1862 and surrendering at Appomattox Court House, Virginia on April 9, 1865.

In his Florida Civil War pension application he states that he was born in Green County Georgia in 1838 or 1839. He does not mention a wound at Sharpsburg but a wound to the elbow during the Wilderness battle and another to the face "before Richmond" both in 1864. in 1907 he had three sons and three daughters, none whom were able help support him.

Here is his official record at the granting of his pension:

WAR DEPARTMENT, THE ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE, WASHINGTON DC October 26,1907.
Respectfully returned to the Comptroller, State of Florida, Tallahassee
The records show that J. Henry Wilson (name also borne as Henry Wilson, name Jacob H. Wilson not found), private, Company A. 22nd Georgia Infantry, C.S.A., was enlisted February 27, 1862. On the roll of the company for the months of January and February, 1865, last roll on file, he is reported present.
The records of prisoners of war show that J. H. Wilson, private, 22nd Georgia Infantry, C.S.A., was paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865.
