A graveside memorial service will be held for Carla Lee (Myers) Ray on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10am at the Norway Cemetery near Myrtle Point.

Carla passed away from complications relating to cancer on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Klamath Falls, Oregon where she was a resident of an assisted living facility. Having suffered a stroke in 2014, additional care had been required since that time.

Born on May 5, 1942 in Albany, Oregon, she was the third child of Leona Rebecca May Cole and Raymond Elbert Hayes. When she was about five years old, her mother married Kenton Andrew Myers who adopted and raised her and her two older brothers (Claud and Darrell). The family moved to Kenton's home in Arago, Oregon, Carla graduated from Myrtle Point High School in 1961. She married first to Bennie Keith Gant on May 5, 1961, their two children are Andrew David Gant.
She married second to Edward Everett Van Vlack on April 1, 1966.
Her third husband was Mike Ray (Lloyd Genese Ray), they lived together in Myrtle Point from 1982 through 2002 when Mike passed away.

Carla was known for her strength of character and uncommon fortitude, true to her family's heritage as Oregon Trail Pioneers in Camas Valley and Jackson County. Carla lived most of her life in the Myrtle Point area. Locally, she was involved with the Coos County Fair and Rodeo, the Coos Art Museum, and the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi social sorority.
