She was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and was the daughter of the late W.G. (Bill) and Myrtle Anderson Kyker. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Sliger, five brothers, J.B., Bill, Edward, Wesley and Roy Kyker, and one sister, Eula Kyker Kennedy and daughter-in-law, Barbara Sliger.
She was a member of Sewee Church of God and attended Clearwater Baptist Church. She was a wonderful Christian. Mamie worked many years as a dietician at North City Elementary for 18 years and E.K. Baker for 2 years.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin and Peggy Sliger, Dan Sliger, Jerry and Derae Sliger; daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Butch Quillen; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nellie Kyker Sliger; and several nieces and nephews.
I would like to thank my dear sister-in-law and care giver Mildred Kyker, Mary Ellen Lovingood, my Sunday School Class, and my loving patient children.
A funeral service will be conducted,1:00 pm, Monday, January 22, 2024 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with Van Sliger, Dwain Sliger, and Martin Bowlin officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday from 11:00am-1:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be John Quillen, Jared Quillen, Jamison Sliger, Jeremy Sliger, Van Sliger, Dwain Sliger, and Martin Bowlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Elwood Barnes, Steve Kyker, Ed Kyker, and Jimmy Kennedy.
