Dessie Ruth Draper, 82 of Georgetown, died April 17, 2008 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday April 21, 2008 in Gabriels Funeral Chapel with Rev. Max Drigger and Pastor Jamie Peterson officiating. Interment will follow in Bagdad Cemetery, pallbearers will be Steven Crow, Mikel Crow, Anthony Crow, Toby Draper, Larry Draper, Ira Draper.
Dessie was born November 15, 1925 to Rufus and Maude (Cantwell) Young in Austin. She married Joseph G. Draper on July 28, 1942 in Austin. The coupled settled in the Austin area and began raising a family. Dessie was a devoted wife and mother. Caring for her family and the home was her life's work. She loved to hunt and fish with her children.
Dessie is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Joseph in Jan. 2008, son; Ira Lee, daughters; Rhoda Smith, Joan Draper, and Elizabeth Draper, and 8 brothers and 5 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory sons; Joseph and wife Mary Elizabeth of Center, Lonnie and wife Bessie of Georgetown, Ronnie and wife Doris of Liberty Hill, daughters; Maudie and husband Bill Streeter of Georgetown, Harriet and husband James Peterson of Pflugerville, Georgia and husband T. J. King of Hutto, and Darlene and husband Curtis Crow of Andice, sisters; Lena Rose Hyden, and Emma Jean Jorgensen, 32 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.
