Richard Norman Adams, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 14, 2024, at Fairwinds-Sand Creek Retirement Community. He was under the care of Aspen Hospice and Alliance PCS and his loving family.

Richard was born May 4, 1928, in Rigby, Idaho, to Willard Adams and Arberella Mikesell Adams. He grew up and attended schools in Rigby and graduated from Rigby High School. He also attended the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico, during one of his high school years. He later attended the University of Idaho, Moscow and Ricks College, and received his Trust Officer certification from the University of Chicago Banking School.

On May 4, 1950, he married Nelda Holm in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Richard and Nelda made their home initially in Rexburg and later in Idaho Falls, where Richard worked as a Bank Executive for the Bank of Commerce. He started as a bank clerk in 1950, with the bank in Rexburg, and later became the President in 1970, and then CEO of the Idaho Falls Bank of Commerce in 1978. He retired from banking in 1991 but was later elected Chairman of the Board for the Bank from 2006-2012.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission in the Western States Mission. He later served a mission with his wife, Nelda at the Church History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. He enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, boating, camping, ranching, oil painting, woodworking art, collecting coins, and he loved spending time at his cabin close to Heise Hot Springs. He always believed that family and his progenitors were his most important treasures on this earth. Consequently, he spent years of his life doing family history research and performing the related temple ordinance work.

Richard is survived by his son, Paul (Renee) Adams of Meridian, Idaho; son, Greg (Alisha) Adams of McKinney, Texas; son, Eric (Cheri) Adams of Salem, Utah; daughter, Lindy L (Thomas) Romrell of Idaho Falls, Idaho; son, Kelly (Angie) Adams of South Jordan, Utah; son, Brett (Karen) Adams of Bend, Oregon; daughter, Jody (Kevin) Stanger of Idaho Falls, Idaho; brother, Allen Graves of Castle Rock, Colorado; 29 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nelda Holm-Adams; sister, Helen Elizabeth "Beth" Adams; brothers, Willard Newton "Bill" Adams, and Joseph Neil Adams; and his parents, Willard and Arberella Adams.

Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road in Ammon, Idaho. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
