Sarah Adeline Brown was born in the daughter of Singleton and Martha E. (Jones) Brown. She was the twin of Minerva Caroline Brown. On July 23, 1876 she married Obediah C. Brannon in Faulkner County, Arkansas. They settled in the Palarm area near other Brannon family members. In the early 1880s they moved to Red River, Texas and by 1900 were in Indian Territory (Oklahoma), finally settling in the Fanshawe area of Le Flore County, OK. Sarah and Obe had 8 children and raised 6 to adulthood.

Sarah's and Obe's newer gravestones were purchased by one of their grandsons, Lloyd Bryant Brannon.
