Tennis was born to Christopher and Dora Workman Dickens. She married Thomas Edgar Holley on January 16, 1937 in Naoma, Raleigh County, West Virginia. Thomas died on April 30, 1953 in a mining accident. Tennis married again on November 25, 1967 to Ronald Taylor.


Holley Taylor, 82, of Danville, formerly of Whitesville, died April 12, 1999, at home after a long illness.

She was a native of Pine Knob and a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving: daughters, Peggy Pettry and Norma Kemper, both of Danville, Tommy Holley of Ripley, Cheryl Wingo of Frederica, Del., Delcie McFadden of Zanesville, Ohio; sons, Ronald D. Taylor of Cross Lanes, James E. Holley of Danville; sister, Mattie Daniel of Sundial; brother, Chris Dickens of Amarillo, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Whitesville, with the Rev. W. Howard Gwinn Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Pineview Cemetery, Orgas. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Armstrong Funeral Home, Whitesville, and one hour prior to service at the church.
