The "C" may stand for Culbertson, her mother's maiden name.
George Masa, a prominent Asheville, NC photographer who was instrumental in getting the Great Smoky Mountains declared a national park, was a business partner of her husband, Elliott Lyman. When Mr. Masa died all of his prints and negatives went to Mr. Lyman. They are now assumed to be lost, but they may still be in the Sarasota area, where the Lyman's died a year apart in the late 60's. Hopefully, one day, they may turn up.
