Peggy Denise Bartley Childers, age 91 of Elkhorn City passed from this earthly life Sunday January 14, 2024 at her residence. She was born June 26, 1932 a daughter of the late Ray and Erma Easterling Bartley. Peggy was a former postmaster at Rockhouse, Kentucky, a member of the Eastern Star as well as member of the Marrowbone Missionary Baptist Church for over 50 years. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Burns Childers, July 20. 2011, and one brother, Donald Bartley.
Peggy is survived by her son, Danny and his wife Paula Childers of Wolfpit, Kentucky, her daughter Donna and her husband William "Lumpy" Newsome of Millard, Kentucky, one brother Ray Gene and his wife Wanda Bartley of Pikeville, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Joshua Anderson, Heather Dawn and her husband Scott Claycomb, and Alisha and her husband Brent Wagner and two great grandchildren, Jonathan Anderson and Sarah Anderson.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Scott Claycomb, Brent Wagner, Gary Owens, Ray Gene Bartley, Joshua Anderson and Jonathan Anderson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to: Marrowbone missionary Baptist Church – 3783 Marrowbone Creek Road – Elkhorn City, Kentucky 41522 Or Pike County Animal Shelter – 527 Lykins Creek – Pikeville, Kentucky 41501
Visitation will be after 6 PM Wednesday at J.W. Call and Son Funeral Home with an Eastern Star service beginning at 7 PM.
Entombment will follow at Annie E. Young Cemetery.
