Alfred George Bathon, age 93, passed away in the early afternoon on January 12, 2024, at Pinckneyville Nursing and Rehab in Pinckneyville.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was born July 30, 1930, to William A. and Lydia (Schmalreide) Bathon. He was of the Catholic faith and a lifelong member of St. Mary Magdalen Church in Todd's Mill, Illinois. Over the years, he was a farmer, a mine construction worker, state highway department worker and a coal miner. He was a member of the 4th degree Knights of Columbus.

August 12, 1950, He married Ella Hoffmann at St. Bruno's Catholic Church in Pinckneyville. Together they made a large family of 10 children.
She preceded him in death on June 10, 1994.

He then married Doris DiMartino in November 25, 1995, at St. Mary Magdalen Church and she survives.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Doris, his living children William of Tamaroa, Mark (Karen) of Radom, Roger (Colleen) of New Braunfels, TX, Lillian of Pinckneyville and James (Cindy) of Carbondale and son-in-law Jim (husband of Patty) and daughter-in-law Julia (wife of Raymond), daughter-in-law - Mary Ann (wife of Donald), 28 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He also has 3 stepsons: Dave (Joanne) and family, Don (Karen) and family and Dennis (Karen) and family.
Also left to mourn the loss are his brother, Lawrence of Nashville, several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Eutoala Heisner, brother Leonard Bathon, a sister in infancy and 3 brothers in infancy, his wife Ella, his children Carl Bathon, Patricia Przygoda, Donald Bathon, Raymond Bathon and Marilyn Peradotta, grandsons Dustin Mathis, Nathan Bathon and great-grandson Hunter Marlow.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M., Friday, January 19, 2024, at the St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church at Todds Mill.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M., Thursday, January 18, 2024, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church and from 9 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
Burial will be in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery at Todds Mill, IL.
