Richard Douglass Christison
APRIL 22, 1939 – JULY 6, 2023

Richard (Dick) Douglass Christison passed away on July 6, 2023, in Murray, Utah surrounded by family.

Born April 22, 1939, in Price, Utah to Douglass L. and Nina Chase Christison. Dick was the oldest of two children.

Dick married Linda K. Davis in Salt Lake City, Utah on September 16, 1957, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a member of the LDS church and served in many callings and at the Jordan River Temple. He had a strong testimony and deep love for his Savior. Dick loved serving the Native American community and was always willing to support their schools and organizations. He spent countless hours serving in the Adopt a Native Elder Program through food preparation and distribution to the elders on the reservation. He also volunteered weekly at the local warehouse preparing supplies to be taken to the elders.

Dick worked in the Standard Oil Service Industry prior to his 35-year career at Rio Tinto Kennecott. He had a love of golf and gardening. He kept an immaculate home and yard. You could catch him picking a weed at any moment, all the way up to the end.

Dick was the true backbone of the family. He loved being able to support all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in all of their endeavors. If Dick could be at an event, he was there. He never wanted to miss a special moment. He also loved learning about and documenting family history. He found companionship through the years with his many loved dogs. Bayley was his final companion and he loved him so much.

Survived by his sister Kay (Jeff) Ross and his four sons Glenn, Jeffrey, Michael (Dayna), Chase (April), 19 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Preceded in death by parents, his wife, and daughter-in-law, Leana Christison.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 12:00 PM. A viewing will be held on Friday, July 14th, 2023, from 6-8 PM and from 11-11:45 AM prior to funeral services on July 15th. All services will be held at the LDS church on 3970 South 5200 West, West Valley City. Interment at Valley View Memorial Park.
