Sylvia Pauline Benner was born July 10, 1927 in Wayne Twp, Greene County, PA to Mary and Frederick Glover, being the 5th of 7 siblings. She graduated from Altoona High School in 1946. During this time, Sylvia found a passion for singing and a talent for yodeling. She and her siblings would occasionally sing on the local radio station. She later married Philip H. Benner on March 22, 1947. They moved to Sylvania, OH following her sister Helen and a job opportunity. Sylvia had great pride in the home she and her husband built in 1956 on Acres Road.

Sylvia worked 22 years as a supervisor in bookkeeping at Sylvania Savings Bank. During this time, she belonged to Sylvania United Church and was active in their various events and clubs. She was also involved in the Sylvania Rotary Luncheons.

Sylvia and her husband enjoyed many years of bowling in leagues and playing cards with friends. After her husband passed in 1994 with 47 years of marriage, Sylvia developed a love for bird watching in her back yard and had a great compassion for family gatherings, with her family highly respecting her as the cornerstone.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; husband, Philip H. Benner; son, Richard (Dick) Benner; and son-in-law, Michael Stowe. She is survived by daughters, Linda (Tom) Wagoner and Janie Stowe; and son, Philip Thomas Benner. Sylvia is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
