Glenn Brookshire was born in Alexander County, NC, in the town of Taylorsville on October 13th, 1932.

Glenn received his bachelor's degree from Lenoir Rhyne University and his master's degree in education from Appalachian State University. He taught at three colleges including Appalachian State, Warren Wilson and Lenoir Rhyne before moving to Asheboro to pursue his career interests. He retired from the Asheboro City School System after more than 30 years of service where he served as a School Administrator and Principal. As Principal, he served at South Asheboro Junior High, Balfour Elementary School and Lindley Park Elementary School. He always spoke highly of his staff and enjoyed the many Teachers and Faculty he worked with. As educators, he and his wife Judy shared a passion for helping others and they had quite a positive and loving impact on the many children they taught and worked with over the years.

Later in life, Glenn and Judy hand-built their own fine home on Lake Tillery. There, they enjoyed entertaining family, friends and the many co-workers they both worked with over the years and shared many evening pontoon rides with. Glenn enjoyed carpentry and had a love and passion for riding horses and had many four-legged friends over the years. He passed his love for horses to anyone who would accompany him on rides or visit his barn. He was quick to help anyone in need with whatever it may have been. He was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and Paw Paw. He loved his neighbors in Oak Hollow and was always quick to say that he lived in the best neighborhood with the best neighbors. He loved riding his golf cart through the neighborhood where he was glad to share a ride with anyone who hopped on.

Special thanks to his wonderful team of caregivers who worked tirelessly to help him and listen to the many experiences of a truly kind soul.
