A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 4 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeff Westerfield officiating.
Steve was born to the late Regina Hiter Eckert and William Frank Hiter in Richmond, Virginia.
He was well known for working various jobs throughout his life but has worked for his brother's company, for the three most recent years. Steve enjoyed life and was well known for his kind heart. He reached out to others often, offering support and always a helping hand.
He had a loving spirit and cared deeply for those he held close, loving his longtime companion of fourteen years, Lib, the most. He spoke of her often, telling everyone that she was his best friend and the love of his life.
Steve saw Lib's family as his own and treated them as so; Lib's granddaughter, whom he called "Bel Bel," was the apple of his eye. He was very proud of his family and thought the world of his nieces and nephews, bragging about them daily. Steve wasn't known for having much but he was well known for helping those around him, putting a smile on your face, and for being 6'11". Steve is survived by his brother, Bruce, of Greenville; two nieces, one nephew, all of Greenville; his longtime companion, Lib, her two daughters; Lib's four grandchildren.
