On January 3, 2024, Alice Marie Hinkle Cloonan returned to the arms of the Lord, whom she faithfully served for 91 years. Marie was born on November 21, 1932 to Lee and Bertha Ramsey Hinkle. As a young woman she attended beauty school in Knoxville, but through most of her career she worked with special needs children in the Etowah, TN school system. In her retirement, she became a regular volunteer at the Mosheim Outreach.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents: Lee and Bertha Hinkle; her husband: Jim Cloonan; daughter: Tina Cloonan VanPoole; and two brothers: Billy Joe Hinkle and Charles Kenneth Hinkle.

She is survived by two grandsons: Aaron and Jordan VanPoole; brothers: Carroll (Judy) Hinkle, Coy (Fay) Hinkle, and Ross (Nona) Hinkle, and a host of cherished nieces and nephews.

Marie loved to laugh, offer advice, and spread information to all her many family members. She cared for people and animals and was always available to help anyone or anything in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
