Jerry had come to Silverton several months previously and worked at the Highland Mary Mine. He died at the San Juan Hospital of pneumonia and heart problems, intensified by acute alcoholism. Born in Trinidad, Colorado, he was the son of John and Mrs. McClain; his father was born in Ireland. Jerry worked in the mines of Colorado about eleven years.
Survivors were his sisters, Mrs. Lulu McClain Moore of Taos, New Mexico, and Mrs. Jesse Harnish of Aguilar, Colorado. Rev. Hines officiated at the final service, and pallbearers were Bill Bowe, Al Fuller, Sam Maynes, Clarence Downtain, George Argal and Tim McCluer. Burial was at Hillside on October 25, 1937."
