William D (Bill) Yates 69 of Sweetwater was called to his eternal home in Heaven on January 3, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family who never left his side.
Bill found great joy in his kids, grandkids, and his church, Sweetwater Full Gospel, where he was the pastor. Spending time with family and serving the Lord were the two things that meant the most to him.
Bill was a graduate of Midway High School. After some time he settled with his family in Sweetwater where he farmed tobacco for over 20 years. Later, he would become employed by TVA where his health would eventually force him to retire from there. Bill will be remembered as a devoted man of God, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and loyal friend.
Preceded in death by his parents: William (Bill) Yates and Isa Bea Hall
Brothers: Truman "Tooter" Yates, Harles Yates, Les Yates
Sister: Gloria (sissy) Yates
Special sister-in-law: Mary Montooth
Special nephew: Andrew Montooth
Survived by his wife of 40 years Jacki Yates
Daughters and sons-in-law: Tara (Jody) Roberts, Amy (Jeff) Cook
Grandkids: Megan (Brandon) Burnette, Rachael (Louie) Bartlett, Caleb (Rachel) Cook, Chassidy Cook and Hannah & Laikan Yates "Papaw's Harriman chicks"
Great grandkids: Jase, Levi and Cooper Barlett, River & Ryder Burnette, Kinsley Robinson
Special niece & nephews: Nikki & Willie Yates, Chris Robinson, Tobey Yates
Brothers & sisters-in-law: Pat (Robin) Yates, Casey Yates, Sue Yates, & Ann Yates

The family would like to thank all of his caregivers during this time, especially his nurses Melissa Buckner and Djo Mitchell. They were Heaven sent and would eventually turn to family.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and said come to me.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Sweetwater Memory Chapel from 5:00P.M. until 7:00P.M. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday at 2:00P.M. in the Memory Chapel with Rev. Johnny Harris and Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment to follow in the Sweetwater Memorial Park.
