Obituary (from the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow funeral home website):

Lynn Thomas Clampitte of Plano, Texas, passed away December 24, 2023, at the age of 84. He was born to Joseph Weldon Clampitte, Sr. and Grace (Felder) Clampitte on October 21, 1939, in Kilgore, Texas. Lynn met his wife, Marcella Borski, at a bowling alley in Houston, Texas. They quickly fell in love and were married ten months later on September 12, 1964. To this union, they had two daughters, Angela and Nancy.

Lynn was a 1959 graduate of Bellaire High School in Bellaire, Texas. He joined the Navy Reserve while still in high school and after graduation went on active duty as a corpsman. Lynn later began a career with Gulf Oil when he owned a full-service gas station in Houston. From there, he sold the station and transitioned into Gulf Oil corporate as a retail marketer, calling on service stations all over north and east Texas. After Gulf Oil was acquired by Chevron in 1984, Lynn continued to work for Chevron until he retired.

Lynn enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing pool, and watching old westerns on TV, but what he was most passionate about was volunteering to help others. He was always ready and willing to help friends and neighbors with whatever they might need. He was a volunteer for several years with the Plain-O Helpers and in that capacity, he helped build fences, fix toilets, install grab bars and ramps, and whatever else the elderly in the community might need. He also managed the supplies for the organization. Lynn always enjoyed fixing things and helping people. No matter what, though, his family was always the most important thing to him.

Lynn is survived by his daughter, Angela Clampitte Hibbard of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Nancy Clampitte Shamel of Plano, Texas; son by choice, Guion Andrew Bennett and wife, Karen, of Van Alstyne, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley, Logan, and Lauren Hibbard; Kendall (Gootee) Carter and husband, Nathan; Jagger Gootee, and Preston Gootee; Kyle Bennett and wife, Riley; Jeremy Bennett, and Allison Bennett; and great grandchildren, Jaxx and Stetson Carter, and Hudson and Rossi Bennett. He is also survived by his brother, Weldon Clampitte, of Brenham, Texas, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Marcella Borski Clampitte, and his nephew, Joe Clampitte.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. The family will receive guests for a visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Ridgeview Memorial Park following the service. The service will also be live streamed.
