Agnes Peplinski Obituary
Agnes "Aggie" Grace Peplinski, of Polonia, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, at Willow Brooke Assisted Living after a courageous and heroic battle with cancer, at the age of 80.

Aggie was born November 3, 1943 in the Town of Stockton; daughter of the late Ambrose and Agnes (Cieslewicz) Somers. She grew up on the family farm that was built by her Grandfather, who lived with them until his death. Aggie's early years were spent developing a very close relationship with him; he even taught her how to read at the age of 4. She attended local schools, graduating from Amherst High School in 1961.

On May 29, 1965, Aggie married the love of her life and long-time friend, James "Jim" Peplinski. The two met as children due to the Peplinski and Somers families being farming neighbors. Jim was best friends with Aggie's brothers, and as they grew, Jim's interest in Aggie led to a courtship. After marriage, they settled in Plover and began raising their family of 5 children before moving to Polonia in 1977, where they lived together until today. After raising the children as a stay-at-home Mother, Aggie aspired to become a working mother. She began her 16-year career with the U.S. Postal Service as a relief rural route postal carrier, eventually gaining her home route, Rural Route #1 of the Custer Post Office. Aggie was extremely proud of her work as a postal carrier, and lived the postal carrier's creed, where snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night kept her from ensuring the good folk of Custer and Polonia received their mail on time.

While Aggie was extremely proud of her entire family, she was honored to have so many military people in her life. She was especially proud of her husband, Jim; her sons, Wayne, Bruce, and Scott; her grandsons, Tyler, Ben, Jonah, and Weston; Tyler's wife Olinda; her granddaughter's husband, Ryan; as well as many extended relatives - all of whom proudly served the country she passionately loved.

Aggie lived a beautifully graceful life. She took great pride in keeping a well-kept, clean home; always making sure it was festive for each holiday. Furthermore, she was an amazing cook and baker, with unparalleled skills with anything homemade. She invented the "gourmet leftover" and her skills didn't stop in the kitchen either; she was gifted with a green thumb and grew an astonishing array of house plants and many beautiful flower and vegetable gardens, always sharing plants and cuttings with her family. Her flowers adorned the church altar for many years and her many varieties of canned wares filled the pantries of the whole family. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart Rosary Society and regularly lent her talents with church meals and events. Aggie also found solace in quiet activities such as reading, writing letters, sewing, and crocheting. Many have a hat, pair of mittens or afghan that she created. Never a Sunday could pass without the house filled with her beloved Polka music. Music was in her soul, having taught herself to play the piano as a young adult and participating as a long time member of the parish Choir. She was grounded in and devoted to her strong Catholic faith. Her gentle loving manner and willingness to always offer a hug will be greatly missed.

Aggie is survived by her husband, Jim of Polonia; her children, Debra (Jerry) Gollon of Stevens Point, Wayne (Clairene) Peplinski of Plover, Bruce Peplinski of Almond, Scott (Jennifer) Peplinski of Stevens Point, and Jon (fiancée Ashley Deuchert) Peplinski of Polonia; her grandchildren, Jakob (Jamie) Gollon, Jordan (Matthew) Karnowski, James Gollon, Tyler (Olinda) Peplinski, Ben (Ruth) Peplinski, Sarah (Ryan) Dombeck, Jonah Peplinski (fiancée Julia Michalek), and Weston Peplinski; and her great-grandchildren, Jara and Jakob Jr. Gollon, Theo and Leo Karnowski, Bradon, Evelyn, and Ethan Negaard, and Declan Peplinski.

Aggie was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and Agnes; her sisters, Barbara Somers, Anita Kruzitski, and Gertrude Peskie; a brother, Daniel Somers; nephews, Karl Peskie and Tony Trzebiatowski; and grandchildren, Samantha Peplinski and Gabriel Peplinski.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Aggie's primary care provider, Bonnie Soik, A.P.N.P., as well as the staff at Willow Brooke, Compassus Hospice, and the Aspirus Cancer Care Center, for the exceptional care given to Aggie and her family.

For those wishing to express their sympathies, the family kindly suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Aggie's honor to either the Wisconsin Right to Life program or the Wounded Warriors Project.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church - 7379 Church Street, Custer. Rev. Mark Miller will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, with a General Rosary at 6:30 PM, at Shuda Funeral Home (3200 Stanley Street, Stevens Point) and again on Thursday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
