Juanita (Juan) Mary Scott Gobel, 100, of Hanover died on December 19, 2023. The daughter of Patrick J. and Mary Nettie Scott, Juanita was born September 21, 1923 in Butte, Montana. Raised in Omaha, Nebraska, she graduated from secondary school at Cathedral High School then earned an RN degree at St. Joseph Hospital.

Juanita married Dr. Reginald T. Gobel in 1945. In 1947, they settled in Hanover, Pennsylvania. Juanita was active in church activities such as Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Legion of Mary, Eucharistic Minister making hospital and home visits. She earned a BS in Psychology at Gettysburg College. In the 1980s she worked five years at Hanover Hall Nursing Home.

Juanita is survived by her children, Mary Clardy and her husband, Warren Clardy of New Market, MD, David and his wife, Phyllis of Ambler, PA, Michael and his wife, Lois of Lancaster, PA, Teresa of Hanover, PA and R. Joseph and his wife, Ginny of Boise, ID; grandchildren John Clardy, Sarah Clardy Polk, Rebecca Clardy Hamilton, Peter, Catherine, Ben, Andrew, Max and Glen Gobel; great grandchildren Forrest, Mary Gail, Jake, Ray, James, Noah, Haley, Liam Ella, and Isaac; and great-great granddaughter Matilda. She was predeceased by her husband Rex, her son John and his wife Keye, and five siblings.

The family will receive friends at St Joseph Church at 10 AM on Saturday, January 6; with a funeral Mass at 11 AM.
