Our dear mother Betty Jane Calhoun peacefully closed her eyes and went to sleep for the last time on December 21st, 2023 while surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old.
Betty, who was the love of her husband's life for 60 years, was a wonderful and dedicated wife. She was a giving mother to her three boys and "adopted" daughter. She had many friends and always remained very close with many extended family members who will miss her dearly. Betty loved to cook. At any family gathering, everyone always quickly sought out Aunt Betty's cookies! Everyone who ate them knew they were made with love.
Over the years she owned several small businesses in Crown Point. Throughout her life she thought of others above herself. She donated her time and resources to many local organizations designed to help others in need. She was a lover of animals, especially her constant companions, her dogs.
Betty possessed a very dedicated Christian faith and knew she was going to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On her last day, she indicated to her family she was ready to go home to finally meet him.
