Myrtle was born on November 12, 1929, in Gracemont, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Floyd H. McCathern, on May 9, 1946. From this union, 9 children, 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren were born. Myrtle professed her life to Christ at an early age and dedicated her life to Christ and her family.
She was a loving, caring, and wise mom who enjoyed life. All through her life, she always put others first with a patient, compassionate, and kind heart. Myrtle loved fishing, camping, cooking, and spending time with her family. She had a sense of humor and loved to laugh. Roses were always found around her home. To know her was to love her.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd H. McCathern; sons Leslie and Eldon McCathern; sister Janice Williams; brothers Bobby Shook and James Shook; and son-in-law Walter McGaugh.
She is survived by daughters Yvonne McGaugh of Hinton, Oklahoma, Joan Underkoffler and husband Terry of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Connie Johnson and husband Marlon of Spring Branch, Texas, Betty Evans and husband Charles of Allen, Texas, Anita Noland and husband Larry of The Colony, Texas; sons Don McCathern of Gracemont, Oklahoma, Lonnie McCathern and wife Kim of Yukon, Oklahoma; as well as nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
