Fortin, Christopher James 12/25/1954 - 9/21/2019 East Lansing A family lost a truly amazing individual and the world lost the greatest drummer it hardly knew. Christopher James Fortin passed away peacefully on September 21, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. He was born on Christmas Day, 1954 to Willard and Elsie Fortin in Bay City, Michigan. Chris was very proud of his French Canadian Ancestry. Chris attended Notre Dame de la Visitation, and graduated from John Glenn Highschool, in Bay City, Michigan. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Dale, Madonna, Earl, Michael, Marilyn, and Gary; and his loyal dog Rusty. Left to cherish his memory is his son Andrew (Megan) Fortin; grandchildren, Lilly Ann and Louisa Mae Fortin; brother David (Kim) Fortin; too many beloved nieces, nephews and friends to list. Chris loved to spend time with family, especially his grand daughters Lilly and Louisa. He tried his best at fishing, and every now and then caught something. Chris' life long pursuit was his passion for music, especially his time with Silk and his band mates Jerry, Felton, and Eddie who are finally reunited. He loved to play music and listen to Jazz music especially Miles. Chris loved to listen to all kinds of music. It didn't matter if it was Miles or Willy, it all meant the world to him. Chris played as much as he could with all different groups. Whenever a drummer was needed Chris would definitely sit in. A celebration of life for Chris will be held at his brother David's place on September 28, 2019, 3711 West Chippewa River, Shepherd, (Midland) Michigan 48883.
