Mr. Carl Grinstead, age 71, beloved husband of the late Barbara Maddox Grinstead passed away on Wednesday morning, December 20, 2023 at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Born in Mt. Vernon, he was one of five children born to the late Willard D. and Margaret T. Grinstead. He grew up in Montgomery County and was a graduate of Montgomery County High School, Class of 1970. Mr. Grinstead began working at an early age in road construction with Holland Construction; first as an asphalt paver, working himself up to Foreman. He later worked with Reeves Construction, the Montgomery County Road Dept. as well as Dykes and Moses Grassing Companies.

He loved small children, tending to livestock; especially bottle feeding newborn goats and was quite an expert at making red velvet cakes.

He was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents and wife, Carl is preceded in death by siblings, Mack Grinstead, Carolyn Grinstead and Mary Ellen Newsome.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from the graveside in the Nabb Cemetery, in the Bear Creek Community, with Pastor Owen Waters officiating.

His family will receive friends on Saturday, at the graveside, from 2:00 pm until the hour of service.
