John A. McGlynn Sr., 89, of 10 Terrace Road, Plains Township, died early Saturday morning in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born in Wilkes-Barre to the late John and Bridget Gavin McGlynn, he lived in Plains most of his life.
He founded the Jacobs and McGlynn Plumbing Firm and was the oldest member of the Plumbers Union Local 90, which he joined in 1916. An Army veteran of World War I, he was a life member of Plains American Legion Home. Mr. McGlynn was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Plains, and its Holy Name Society.
Surviving are sons, John Jr., Kingston; James A., Plains; Cornelius T., Medford Lakes, N.J.; seven grandchildren: 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be today at 10 a.m. from Corcoran Funeral Home, 20 S. Main St., Plains with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church and burial in the parish cemetery, Plains.
