Rosanna Parker Obituary
Rosanna Parker, age 94, of Centerville, formerly of Seymour, passed away Monday, December 19, 2023 at MercyOne Long Term Care in Centerville.

Rosanna (Doggett) Parker was born to Raymond Doggett and Margaret (Streepy) Doggett on March 28, 1929. She attended Numa High School and in 1947 married Richard (Dick) Parker. They became parents of three children: Sue Ann, Russell Duane, and Jill Joan.

The Parker family moved to Seymour in 1958 and Rosanna worked for her brother, Neil, in his dry-cleaning business for several years. In the mid-1970s, Richard Parker Trucking was established and her real life's work began. Dick ran the business, but Rosanna was the glue that kept things running. She was the accountant, took care of advances, handled reciprocity, and kept harmony between Dick and his many drivers. They had 17 semis at one time, so she was always busy. In addition, she was the on-call babysitter for all the grandkids and never, ever said she didn't have time to take care of one. Sometimes they may have faked an illness or two because it was lots of fun for them to spend the day in the shop with Grandma and Grandpa.

After Dick's death in 1986, her goal was to stay busy. She became passionate about the Daughters of the American Revolution and held many offices including State Regent. She was on the board of the Seymour Library, Seymour Care Center, and Treasurer and Trustee at the Seymour Methodist Church. She was a member of the Methodist Church Choir for over 30 years and sang for many events during her lifetime. She traveled extensively with her good friend, Ethel Lira, and stayed active in the lives of all her children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Neil Doggett; sister, Colleen Hutchinson; and husband, Richard Parker.

She is survived by her sister, Joan Wells; three children, Sue Ann (Don) Banning, Russell Duane (Mary) Parker, and Jill Joan (Dale) Housh. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren who will miss her dearly: Richard (Janette) Parker, Kelly (Allen) Goben, Kristy Parker, Matthew (Tammy) Banning, Clint (Kerri) Housh, Troy (Kelly) Banning, Caleb (Hilary) Housh, and Courtney (Drew) Power, 17 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

Following a short illness in 2021, she moved to the Long-Term Care Center at MercyOne in Centerville, Iowa, and received thoughtful and loving care until her death. During her lifetime she was loved by many, and loved many. What more can you ask out of life?

Per wishes, cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Seymour United Methodist Church, 307 West Wall Street, Seymour, Iowa 52590 with Dennis Doggett officiating. A private family burial will take place at Numa Cemetery. Visitation will take place Friday, December 22, 2023 at the Seymour United Methodist Church, with the family greeting friends from 10:00AM-11:00AM. Memorials in honor of Rosanna, may be made to Seymour United Methodist Church, and may be mailed to Thomas Funeral Home, ATTN: Parker Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
