North Augusta, SC- Mr. Luke R. Barefoot, born April 25, 1939, 84, entered into eternal rest on December 18, 2023. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday morning at 10:30am in the Immanuel Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Tau and Rev. Justin Epps officiating. Interment will follow in Pineview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 o'clock.
Luke was born to the late David Veston and Rebecca Della Sharpe Barefoot. He was a lifelong resident of North Augusta, SC and worked for Augusta Newsprint as an Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Supervisor for 37 years. Luke was a devout Christian who loved the Lord wholeheartedly and served at Immanuel Baptist Church serving as a deacon and on numerous committees over his years as a member. Luke enthusiastically enjoyed watching the Carolina Gamecocks and cheering them on, no matter the sport. He was an avid chess player and enjoyed golfing, singing, and dancing. Luke loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family. He enjoyed traveling and exploring the USA on several cross country trips. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Vickey Joline Ellis Barefoot, a brother, Onnie L. Barefoot and a sister, Sarah Barefoot Poole. Surviving family members left to cherish his memory include two sisters, Mavis Ryder of Aiken and Willa Mae "Sue" Norris of Beech Island, three children, James Richard (Mariann) Barefoot of Summerville, Joy Lynn (Jeffery) Collins and Jill Suzanne (Donald) Baxley both of North Augusta; 10 grandchildren, Jessica (Brent) Spitzer, Jacob (Ragan) Collins, Brittany (Trey) Bostic, Danielle ( Lex Gomez) Barefoot, Noah Rogers, Katey Rogers, Mallary (Bryan) Butler, John (Valerie) Chritton, Rose Baxley, and Nicholas Baxley; 8 great-grandchildren, Scarlett, Benjamin, Sarah, Hailee, Dani, Webb, Audrey, and Billy.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Collins, Noah Rogers, Brent Spitzer, Trey Bostic, Nicholas Baxley, and Bryan Butler.
