Otis A. Painter Dies January 14

Otis A. Painter, 81, died Monday, January 14, at his home in Lincoln township, in northwest Douglas county.

The son of Lemuel D. and Artie J. Painter, he was born in Springfield, March 2, 1870. He was 81 years, 9 months and 12 days old at the time of his death.

He was married February 24, 1889, to Rosa Emly Cook, who survives.

He is also survived by four children, Arta Mae Ellison, route 3, Ava; Horace Miles Painter, route 4, Seymour; Ruth Gertrude Philpott, route 4, Seymour, and Otha Ann Silvey, Seymour, Mo., and two brothers, Charles H. Painter, of St. Joseph, Mo., and John Fredrick Painter of Springfield, Mo.

Funeral services were held today, Thursday, at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist church, and were conducted by Rev. Walter Goss of Seymour. Burial was in the Pleasant Ridge cemetery under direction of the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
