George "Fred" Frederick Mappus entered into eternal rest on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

Mr. Mappus was born on March 30, 1935, in Charleston, SC, a son of the late T.W. Mappus and Hermine Rosebrock Mappus, both of Charleston, SC.

Mr. Mappus was a graduate of St. Andrew's High School and Trident Technical College. He served on both Reserve and Active duty with the Army. He was a lifetime member of Elks Lodge 242, The Charleston Rifle Club, and member of The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer. He was the retired former owner of Heinsohn Electric Service and Rick's Lighting.

Mr. Mappus was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Heinsohn Mappus and his brothers: Dr. T.W. Mappus Jr., Julian Mappus and Charlie Mappus; and his sister, Wilma Mappus.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Mappus; three sons: Rick Mappus and his wife, Cynthia, of Charleston, SC; Glenn Mappus and his wife, Mindy, of Ridgeville, SC and Greg Mappus and his wife, Tracie, of Charleston, SC; six grandchildren: Mandy, Glenn Jr., Eric, Daniel, Drew, Preston and Jayce; and two great-grandchildren, Maddy and Waylon. He is also survived by his sister, Wilma; two brothers, Julian and Charles Mappus, all of Charleston, SC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens, North Charleston, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 714 Riverdale Drive, Charleston, SC 29407.
