Thomas Obediah Cone was the eldest son of three children born to Thomas C. Cone (1848-1922) and his first wife, Margaret Virginia Watkins (1861- ).
His mother, Margaret Virginia Watkins Cone (and a younger son) presumably died, most likely between 1885 and about 1890 about the time his father and two sons returned to Georgia from the Otter Creek area in Levy County Florida, where they previously resided in 1880 and 1885.
Although he and his father were occasionally called "Tom Sr. and Tom Jr.", this was simply to note the elder from the younger, as they were both called "Tom".
Thomas Obediah Cone married Queenie Laura Bradley on 24 December 1902 in Colquitt County, Georgia. They had six children, all born and raised in the Salem/Patten area of Thomas County, Georgia.
Living descendants who attended his funeral service at Salem Baptist Church, and his burial there in 1948, have verified the accuracy of his final resting place.
