Alvis Harvey Pense, 88, of Mountainburg, Arkansas passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his home. Alvis was born March 8, 1935 to the late Rual and Estella (Henson) Pense.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rual and Estella Pense; wife, Joan (Vaught) Pense; son, Tommy Dale Pense, son-in-law, Larry Wright; brothers, Amos Pense, Charlie Pense; and sister, Ellen Sealy.
Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 21, 2023 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma with interment to follow at Vaught Cemetery in Mountainburg, Arkansas. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Ocker Funeral Home of Alma, 917 Hwy 64 E. Alma, AR. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Kyle Pense, Zane Pense, Cody Pense, Boyd Wright, Beck Wright, Matthew Dejarnatt, and John Dejarnatt.
Alvis was retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department. He loved wood working, gardening, fishing, and growing berries. One of his favorite hobbies was building houses.
Alvis is survived by his daughter, Debbie Wright of Van Buren, AR; sons, Tim Pense and wife Kathy of Mountainburg, AR, Harvey Pense of Alma, AR, Stanley Pense of Mountainburg, AR; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Jack Pense; sisters, Alice Shell, Connie Guneum, Katherine Langley, Betty Sanders, Ann Bemrose, and Evelyn Pense.
