Jane attended Murray State University, then moved to Memphis just after World War II. Her community and church activities included Christ United Methodist Church choir, King's Daughters and Tennessee Chapter O of the PEO Sisterhood. Jane was an avid tennis player and belonged to the Tennessee Tennis Association, the Southern Tennis Association, and the U.S. Tennis Association, receiving recognition from all for many years of service. She enjoyed serving as captain of southern tennis teams playing in numerous national events.
