Carolyn Rowan, 84 of Mill Run passed away peacefully Friday December 8, 2023 in Mountain View Memory Care, Hempfield Twp after a battle with Alzheimer's with her loving family at her side.
She was born July 24, 1939 in Connellsville a daughter of the late Homer Melvin and Regina Prinkey Smith.
Carolyn was a 1957 graduate of Connellsville High School but she also did her Elementary Schooling and some of her high schooling in Perryopolis. She was employed by Kathryn's Jewelry of Connellsville for 25 years and she also assisted her son in the operation of Chip's Corner Cafe for many years. Carolyn was an avid bowler having been in many bowling leagues in Connellsville and Greensburg, both ladies leagues and couples leagues, and she was most proud of her 299 score she achieved. She was a long time member of the Mill Run United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Kathy Herchko and her husband David of North Huntingdon, James O. "Chip" Rowan, Jr. and his partner Richard of Connellsville and Karla Jo White and her husband Cale of Acme; five grandchildren, Derek Herchko and his wife Ashton of Flower Mound TX, Drew Herchko and his girlfriend Rebekah Wood of Pittsburgh, Davis Herchko and his girlfriend Megan Bever of Pittsburgh, Marissa White and Mallory White of Acme; her great granddaughter, Auden Herchko of Flower Mound TX; sister, Patty Miller and her husband Frank of Mill Run; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise Glotfelty and her husband Ron of Romulus, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, James O. Rowan, Sr. in 2010.
Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Thursday in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held on Friday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Rob Kifer officiating. Interment will follow in the Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery, Mill Run.
