Jane was born on a farm near Weldon, IL on November 26, 1930 to Ray and Ruby Odaffer. Jane's ancestry goes all the way back to the Mayflower and the pilgrims.
Preceding her in death was her sister, Twilia Rae Odaffer and she has two surviving siblings, Phares ODaffer of Bloomington and Wanda McDaniel of Champaign. Surviving also are sons, Stuart Fehr of Champaign, Brad Fehr of Indianapolis, IN, and Rolf Fehr of Decatur; daughters, Emily Edgecombe of Argenta and Brenda Kowalczyk of Indianapolis, IN; stepsons, Tom McCraw of Ft. Worth, TX, John McCraw of Madison, Conn., David McCraw of Reddington, Conn., and Jim McCraw of Hamburg, NY; 19 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Jane attended a country school in Weldon, IL and graduated from Nixon Township High School in Weldon in 1948. She then attended Methodist Hospital of Central Illinois School of Nursing and Bradley University and graduated as an RN in 1951. She practiced nursing at the Eureka Hospital, Eureka, IL and Kirby Hospital in Monticello, IL. She married Elwin Fehr in 1951 and they raised 5 children. She married E.A. McCraw in 1966 who had 4 sons.
She was a member of the Monticello Church of Christ in Monticello for 45 years. Jane liked to travel and went often to Europe, Canada, Mexico, and across the United States. She was the Illinois representative for the Johnny Cash Fan Club, attending many concerts and being invited to Johnny Cash's home
Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m., Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held in Monticello Township Cemetery.
