Charles M. "Mike" Ansel was the son of Charles K. and Ruby I. (Oldner) Ansel. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1966. Later that year he served in the U.S. Army in the 198th Infantry Brigade, 1st Battalion 52nd Infantry Regiment in Vietnam. In 1968 he was honorably discharged from the service and continued serving in the U.S. Army Reserve until 1976. Mike worked at John Dubuque Dubuque Works for 40 years before retiring in 2010. Mike married Linda Buelow in 1971 and had five children with her. Mike was very involved in the community, especially in veteran's organizations.
