Dennis Wayne Smith, age 65, of California, Kentucky, passed away on December 7, 2023. He was born in Dayton, Kentucky, on April 5, 1958, a son of Franklin Smith and Phyllis Washam. He worked for Newport Steel for 20 years and served as the Newport Steel union representative for Local 1870. He helped run the City of California fireworks show for many years, while also volunteering for the Eastern Campbell County Fire Department. The love of his life, Lisa, passed away in March 2022.

In addition to his wife, Dennis was preceded in death by: his parents; and a brother, Larry Smith. He is survived by: two daughters, Stephanie Smith and Chastity Smith; three brothers, Darrel Smith, Frank (Tina) Smith and John "Bird" Smith; and eight grandchildren, Jada Mullins, Alec Mullins, Aden Mullins, Hope Jenkins, Skylar Gillespie, Isaiah Dauwe, Izabella Dauwe and Christopher Dauwe.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. December 16, at Ronnie Young Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the funeral home by calling 859-635-7844. Cooper Funeral Home is serving the family.
