David Daffron York, 80, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at Baptist Health, Paducah, Kentucky.
David was born in Monticello, Kentucky to the late Jessie Daffron and Joe Lewis York. He was a proud descendant of Sergeant Alvin C. York. Mr. York attended Eastern Kentucky University and began his career in banking in Louisville, Kentucky. During his 42 years in banking , he was employed by several banks including; Paducah Bank, Fifth Third Bank, and he retired with Compass Bank. Mr. York was a member of the United Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. He received the distinction of Duke of Paducah and worked with Easter Seals West Kentucky.
Mr. York is survived by his wife, Sherry Wortham York of Paducah; two daughters Marlice Dawn York of Liberty, Kentucky and Michelle York Shrader (Chris) of Columbia, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Christian Shrader (Leah) of Columbia, Tennessee, Sutherland Archibald (Tommy) of Palo Alto, California, McKenna Taylor (Jordan) of Columbia, Tennessee, Cassidy Hodge (Hunter) of Madison, Alabama, and Trevor Whitehead (Cay) of Columbia, Kentucky; three great grandchildren, Beau David Shrader, Harper James Shrader, and Maverick Taylor all of Columbia, Tennessee.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Fred York.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremations Services of Paducah with Rev. David Garrett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service time of 1:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Paducah.
