A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Madison United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dan Ramsey officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Woodland Cemetery.
Mrs. Cobb was born on April 18, 1931, in Rockingham County, the daughter of the late William Floyd Angel and the late Mary Etta Jackson Angel. She had retired from Burlington Industries with over 20 years of service. She was a transportation volunteer for the American Cancer Society and was involved with the ESA with St. Judes Childrens Hospital. She was an ambassador at the state level for the senior Olympic games. She was a member of Madison United Methodist Church and the church choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, Wesley Cobb and sisters, Carmen Stephens and Carolyn Oakley.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Hammond and husband Paul of Winston- Salem; son John Cobb and wife Sara of Madison; brothers, Jay Lyle "Poochie" Angel and William Floyd "Blue" Angel Jr., both of Madison; and two grandsons, Wesley Ross Hammond and John Alexander Cobb.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
