Lauretta Frances (Munch) Carpenter went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2007. She was 83. She has joined Jack Carpenter, her second husband of 35 years. Her first husband Harry Babb Jr. and her daughter Lana Gale passed away in 1957. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1924. She was close to her beloved sister Margaret who passed away in 2003. She and her son moved to San Diego from Yuma in 1958 where a few years later she met Jack. She enjoyed being a beautician for over 25 years. The last few years she had been in a skilled nursing facility where she made many new friends of the staff and residents. She was an avid Padres and Cubs fan and her only regret was not to see either one win a World Series, she would always say "maybe next year." She will be truly missed. She leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law Harry and Donna Babb, her nieces Janice Brennan, Mary Alpers, and Karen Farrell; her nephew Dan Reid, her sister Irene, many other nieces and nephews, and brother-in-law Howard Reid. Her ashes were scattered at sea on October 19th to join Jack who also had his ashes scattered at sea. No memorial will be held per her request. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elizabeth Hospice of San Marcos, CA or the San Diego USO.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com.
